Home Security Store was founded as a $20,000 Californian business in 1995. Originally the company was operated from a garage, eventually moving to building as it grew.〔 The company was co-founded by Ralph Winn, who comes from a family involved in the security industry since the 1940s.〔 Winn himself has been involved in the home security field since 1973.〔 Winn previously worked in Honeywell Security's Government Division and served as a security consultant to foreign governments, including Russia and Ukraine. He is also known for founding and operating Norco Alarms, an alarm-installation company.〔
In July 2013, Home Security Store moved to a new 33,000 sq. foot building at the border of Riverside and Corona to expand and to serve local installers in the Inland Empire and Orange County areas of Southern California.〔http://www.prweb.com/releases/2013/7/prweb10911204.htm〕
